Path of Neo leads to stores

When Enter the Matrix was released in 2003, it appeared to be a coup. The game arrived in stores as The Matrix Reloaded, the second in Larry and Andy Wachowski's sci-fi film trilogy, debuted in theaters. Designed with the brother-writer-directors' input, the game bridged the storyline between Reloaded and its sequel The Matrix Revolutions and was seen by many as breaking new ground in movie-game syngergy.

Though Enter the Matrix would go on to sell more than 2.5 million copies, it was a critical failure. It helped widen an anti-Matrix backlash fueled by filmgoers' disappointment with Reloaded and Revolutions, which saw similarly mediocre reviews and financial success. Said backlash was also partly responsible for the fate of The Matrix Online, which was sold off by Warner Bros. Interactive due to a lack of interest. (Atari was not involved in the making of the game.)

Despite these events, Atari pressed on with development of a new Matrix game. Today, that game, The Matrix: The Path of Neo, shipped for the PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 2. Rated T for Teen, it retails for $49.99 across all platforms.

As with Enter the Matrix, Path of Neo is being developed by Shiny Entertainment under the auspices of the Wachowskis. However, instead of having a mostly original plot, it will let gamers play as the reluctant hero, Neo, through events spanning all three films in the series. Characters will have the voices and likenesses of the film's original stars, including Keanu Reeves (Neo), Laurence Fishburne (Morpheus), Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity), and Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith).

Path of Neo will also include original story elements created specifically for the game. Furthermore, it features reworked gameplay, including light role-playing elements and an intricate melee combat system incorporating many martial arts moves. As with Enter the Matrix, players will be able to use a "bullet time" feature to slow down the chaos of combat.

Come back soon for GameSpot's review of The Matrix: Path of Neo, or jack in to our previous coverage for more details.

Devastated by the accident Alan visits Vivienne's mother Linda only to discover that she is autistic with little understanding of what has happened.

Kelowna gathers Moss

Carrie-Anne Moss, best known for her role as Trinity in the Matrix movies, will star in the film Fido, which begins shooting in Kelowna on Monday

The $10-million production -- the biggest-budget movie ever filmed in Kelowna -- is described as "feel-good" story about a boy and his pet zombie

"It's a full-sized crew, which means about 150 people working on the production, plus extras," Sara Shaak of the Okanagan Film Commission said Friday
Filming will continue for eight weeks at various locations around Kelowna
Most Canadian-made films have a budget of around $2.5 million
Filmmaker Andrew Currie has said one of the reasons Kelowna was chosen for the production is because it has a number of neighbourhoods that have an "amazing" 1950s feel to them, including Maple Street.
Kelowna will be depicted as a town called Willard. The story revolves around a character named Timmy Robinson, whose parents give him a zombie as a pet.
“As the pair plays baseball in the park, the zombie saves Timmy from the local bullies. A true friendship is born, and Timmy names the zombie Fido,” according to website of the company making the movie, Anagram Pictures.
In the movie, zombies have been domesticated and serve as gardeners, milkmen and butlers.
Film and TV activity in B.C. during the first four months of 2005 was up 30 per cent from 2004, according to the B.C. Film Commission.

Lindsay set for a role in Tom's new movie instead of Carrie-Anne?

Lindsay Lohan has hit the big time with a role in Mission: Impossible 3 opposite Tom Cruise. The sex singer confirmed the news while speaking on a Los Angeles radio show. The 18-year-old beauty told 102.7 KIIS: "I'm doing Mission: Impossible 3. Shhhhhh! You're the first one I've told." Lohan is said to have landed the part after Cruise announced he was a big fan of her debut album, Speak. The Hollywood heartthrob is said to be so overwhelmed by her music he has even asked her to play on the movie's soundtrack . A source close to Lindsay said: "Tom's mightily impressed with her as an all-round package. He wants her to supply high-octane rock music for some of the action sequences of the new film. "She's a great actress and he's signed her up for M:I 3 - possibly in a star role." Earlier this month, Scarlett Johansson and 'The Matrix' star Carrie-Anne Moss quit the second 'Mission: Impossible' sequel because of delays to filming - following a string of problems. - Bang Showbiz

Mission Impossible?

M:I' script rewrite prompts release of 2 slated actors Scarlett Johansson and "The Matrix" star Carrie-Anne Moss have quit the second "Mission: Impossible" sequel because of ongoing delays, reports IMDB.com. The two in-demand actresses were slated to team up with Tom Cruise in "M:I 3," but director J.J. Abrams says he has had to let them go because of scheduling problems around the film's script. "The script was rewritten," Abrams said. "I'm a huge fan of each actor that they cast originally, but to have kept the actors when we are re-inventing the story would have been an odd process. To say, 'Write a script with these people in mind for characters that haven't been written,' just felt like we had to start over with a clean slate." Abrams, who has yet to announce his replacements for the project, is committed to starting the shoot in July.

A new movie "Snow cake"

Principal photography is underway on 'Snow Cake', a Canada-UK co-production produced by Niv Fichman and Jessica Daniel from Rhombus Media and Gina Carter and Andrew Eaton from Revolution Films.
The film began shooting in Wawa, Ontario April 10 and relocates to Toronto at the end of April, wrapping on May 19. The script is by first-time UK screenwriter Angela Pell and stars Alan Rickman, Sigourney Weaver and Carrie-Anne Moss.
Snow Cake is a film about friendship, snow, acceptance, obsessive cleaning, a dog called Marilyn, and about finding the warmest of friendships in the coldest of places.
Tight-lipped Englishman Alex (Alan Rickman) arrives in Northern Ontario and is bullied by lovable 19-year-old hitchhiker Vivienne into giving her a ride. When the car is hit by a truck on the outskirts of her hometown, Vivienne dies instantly. Alex finds himself, for the second time in his life, grieving for someone he never knew.
Shocked and stranded in snowbound Wawa, he is drawn to seek out Vivienne's mother and comes face to face with Linda (Sigourney Weaver).
"It's such a heart-warming script and a truly inspired cast," said Fichman, Oscar-winning producer of 'The Red Violin', starring Samuel L. Jackson. "Snow Cake is an exquisitely intimate story exploring some fairly explosive themes - the relationships between damaged and disparate individuals, the meaning of grief and the nature of imperfect love."
Andrew Eaton, who produced Marc Evans' 'Resurrection Man', added: "Angela sent me her debut script a year ago and I knew at once she had created something very special. It is a testament to the quality of her writing that we have managed to bring together such a brilliantly talented group of people. It is especially great to be working with Marc again."
